Railings can be very simple and still beautiful. They can be lifted by a wrapping of gold leaf on a finial. Or they can follow sinuous, organic lines.

The trick is to work from the architecture out towards a design, not to impose a catalogue solution. So it comes down to the knowledge, the thought, the draughtsmanship and the hand crafting that goes in to them.
