Working closely with the client we produce a hand drawn, singular design that will be fashioned out of mild steel and wrought iron. Repeated elements, such as a finial, are produced in the forge and then sent away for casting in a sand mould. Scrolls, swags and organic shapes are bent, twisted and hammered out of molten metal using techniques that have been employed for centuries.
We never start from pre-conceived ideas. We are equally at home working with motifs from Versailles or Modernist detail. The purpose is always to forge and fabricate an entrance that is individual, robust and sensitive to its setting. Typically, we brush paint our metalwork using four coats of paint developed for the Alaskan oilfields. Applied properly this will ensure at least 15 years of corrosion free enjoyment. Where required, the gates are fitted with discreet pneumatic openers. |
